Entry #3 Media Bias

A slanted article is a personal point of view or opinion: an article with an unconventional slant. This means that the reporter or writer is sharing their opinion on the matter. For example, there have been multiple instances with President Trump, while in “immigration talks” in the oval office he got very aggravated and said, "Why are we having all these people from shithole countries come here?".

This is considered a “slanted” statement because he openly called these peoples home a s*** hole. He didn’t take a second to think about what he was saying and possibly say it a different way that wouldn’t be as offensive. Another example may come as a shock to some, but many of the most watched news broadcasts and reports can be biased as well. Fox news has been known to be on the right side of the spectrum when dealing with political parties. The left side of the spectrum is more liberal, this side shows that MSNBC, New Yorker State, and The New York times are more biased towards Liberals. On the Right side there is, Fox News, Drudge Report, The Blaze, and many more. This means that they are geared more towards the Conservatives. Then there are the more neutral news stations, such as The Wallstreet Journal, CBS News,Yahoo News, etc. The middle is average and they don’t direct their broadcasts or reports to either side of the spectrum.

By having a biased or “slanted report” you are basically giving people false information or “fake news”. This affects the readers or listeners by either not giving the full story and making them believe something that may not be true. The credibility of the sources that have slanted reports goes down because they are sharing their own opinions into the report and making it opinionated or biased.
